MidPoint adds some spice for their artists

Gold Star Chili Artist Clubhouse at Neon’s Unplugged dishes up something Cincinnati

MidPoint Music Festival brings together musicians from all over the planet to descend on the Queen City for a healthy amount of music and revelry. With more than 250 showcases, fans can expect to see artists from 27 states Gold Star Chiliand nine different countries. To offer our traveling guests a little hometown hospitality, MidPoint is partnering with Gold Star Chili to set up the Artist Clubhouse at Neon’s Unplugged.

Why an artist clubhouse? Bands that travel a far distance to a new town don’t want to just hang out in a hotel room during down time. They want to catch some local flavor. But all that travel can make them tired, as well. The Gold Star Chili Artist Clubhouse provides the perfect spot where they can relax, enjoy some music, and maybe network a little with their fellow musicians. The location, Neon’s Unplugged, 208 East 12th Street, is right in Over-the-Rhine and in walking distance to all MidPoint venues.

In your belly

No trip to Cincinnati is complete without a sample of our famous Cincinnati-style chili. It’s unlike chili you find anywhere else. Gold Star Chili will have their Chilimobile on site and each MidPoint act will be receiving voucher in their goodie bag for free world-famous cheese coneys at the Clubhouse. Coney’s will be for sale otherwise. Neon’s Unplugged will also be serving up friendly beer specials. So anyone hanging out here for the weekend should be all set.

In your ear

For the Neon’s neophytes out there, this bar has a huge (and comfortable) courtyard. This provides the perfect setting for bands to socialize and network to plan that next big tour. They’ve got a killer bocce ball court to pass the time in the afternoon! And it’s plenty big for a stage.

Tracey Walker“I wonder if we’ll have some entertainment?” Glad you asked. This will be the spot to catch some of the talented songwriters from the festival perform without their typical band, rather “in-the-round” style with other singer/songwriters. Cincinnati’s own Tracy Walker (shown right) will be scheduling four folks on stage at a time and—no rehearsals—we’re gonna play some music with one person leading at time.

The In-The-Round sets run from 5–11 p.m. all three days of MidPoint. MPMF artists only: Slots are still available, so contact Tracey Walker (twalker (at) citybeat (dot) com) if you are interested. Neon’s will have free public admission all weekend, so this is great for anyone wanting to perform more than their designated MPMF showcase.

In your gear

Also at the Clubhouse will be Paul Brinker, the owner and designer behind Inkdt Guitar Skins. These Inkdt skins are removable vinyl graphics that allow you to instantly give your guitar a customized look. The skins are an easy and affordable way to customize your gear, while also giving you the flexibility to change it up as often as you'd like.
