The best kind of overnight sensations take time to develop, and so it is with Chaselounge. The quartet had amassed a considerable following after years of local appearances and regional touring and a pair of excellent albums, 2004’s Mayday Roger the Radio and 2005’s Black Plastic Ordinary. But two years ago, the quartet decided to extricate themselves from the touring grind to concentrate on a third album. It was worth the time off and the wait — the Erwin Musper-produced Hush of Sound is Chaselounge’s masterwork and one of the highlights of 2010, local or otherwise. Welcome back, boys.
